Najib Abusalbi

Director, Corporate University Relations

Dr. Najib Abusalbi is currently Director of Corporate University Relations for Schlumberger Limited, the world’s largest oilfield services and technology provider. His current responsibilities include oversight of activities with leading global universities. These activities include developing and recruiting talent globally, and providing support of both education and research programs for the energy sector, with focus on building capacity and boosting technology innovation. In this role, he reports to the Schlumberger Executive Vice President of Corporate Development.
He joined Schlumberger in 1984 following three years in academic roles in Physics and Chemistry. Since then, he held multiple product development and management positions in several exploration and production domains – including information management director, operations manager, project director and program manager, as well as recruiting, training and career development manager, innovation and research director, chief architect for production and operations software in upstream oil & gas, and most recently as university collaboration director for the Reservoir Characterization Schlumberger group of companies.
Dr. Abusalbi holds a PhD. in Atomic Physics from Louisiana State University and is recognized as a Scientific Advisor in Schlumberger’s Communities of Practice where he has led several communities including Management Disciplines, Project Management, and Knowledge and Information Management where he’s acted since 2012 as an executive management sponsor. He also served on the Executive Committee on Education under the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and will head the next Forum on Petro-technical Education, as the Chairman of the SPE Online Communities Advisory Committee (OCAC), on the Board of the Geoscience Without Borders under the Society of Exploration Geophysics (SEG) Foundation, in addition to the Industry Advisory Board of the Norway-Texas Petroleum Research Alliance (NorTex), the Forum on Education of the global Francophone corporations, and his advisory role on the National Center of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer (NCET2).
